If you are considering taking up the practice of Kung Fu, you likely have a lot of questions. After all, if you are new to martial arts it can be an intimidating proposition.

Most people believe that everyone who practices Kung Fu is a disciplined, physically fit individual with a high level of self-confidence. This is true of those who have been training in Kung Fu for years. However, every person is on a different stage of their journey. And just because you don’t consider yourself physically fit or particularly confident, this doesn’t mean you aren’t cut out for Kung Fu

Everyone who begins training in Kung Fu starts at a different point. No one will start their journey at the same physical or mental stage as anyone else.

While each individual will begin their journey at a different point, everyone who dedicates themselves to their practice and puts in the time and effort required of this journey will experience many of the following mental and physical changes:

  1. Increased energy and focus. Any physical activity will improve concentration and cardiovascular health. Kung Fu is no different. Kung Fu also increases energy levels and provides a fresh outlook on life.
  2. Improved balance. Kung Fu increases your agility and allows you to improve your balance. In situations where you normally would stumble or have trouble maintaining your balance, you will become steadier in your movements.
  3. Better overall health. If you begin your Kung Fu practice overweight you are likely to shed those unwanted pounds. You also will begin to crave healthier food as you become more focused on improving your mind and body.
  4. More confidence. You can expect to enjoy more confidence in all areas of your life. Things that you may not have thought to try in the past will now seem to be well within your reach.
  5. Less volatile. If were prone to losing your temper or becoming upset at the slightest provocation, these emotional outbursts will begin to dissipate. Kung Fu emphasizes self-control and helps to increase your ability to keep a clear head. Unreasonable responses will now become a thing of the past.
  6. Less fearful. Kung Fu increases your ability to protect yourself. You avoid dangerous situations and will carry yourself in a way that discourages others from trying to take advantage of you. If you do end up in a dangerous situation, however, you will know what to do.

Everyone begins their Kung Fu journey at their own place. While some individuals may seem more cut out for Kung Fu, anyone can benefit from the practice.
